We've answered some common questions here, but the vast majority of local area information, recommendations, resort questions and property specific questions will all be found in our industry leading guidebooks.

Are pets allowed at Hydeaway Stay properties?

The majority of our Hydeaways are not pet friendly as the HOAs have strict regulations against pets in vacation rentals. However there can be exceptions by individual units and based on the nature of the pet or if its a certified service animal who is trained to perform specific tasks required for disabilities.

Do I need travel insurance?

While travel insurance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Travel insurance can provide you with peace of mind by covering unexpected events such as trip cancellation, medical emergencies, lost luggage, and other unforeseen circumstances. We suggest checking with your insurance provider for options that best suit your travel needs.

Can I check in early?

We understand that travel plans can vary, and we will do our best to accommodate early check-in requests. However, we cannot guarantee this prior to the arrival day, especially during busy summer months when demand is high. Early check-in availability often depends on our cleaning schedule and other factors, which can be unpredictable.

If you provide us with an estimated arrival time when requesting early check-in, it will help our cleaning team prioritize the unit. If your accommodation is ready before the standard check-in time of 4 PM, we will send you an update. Thank you for your understanding!

Does Hydeaway support any local charities?

Of course we do! We are firm believers of giving back to the community that gives so much to us. We have partnered with Rocky Mountain Adaptive to help support their wonderful organization which supports accessible activities for everyone in the Bow Valley. For every guest stay we make a donation to the organization and partner with them on events throughout the year.

Can I store my luggage if I arrive early?

Unfortunately, as the unit is not hosted by the hotel itself, we are unable to use their front office space to store your luggage before check-in.

Does my Hydeaway have a guidebook?

Yes, please scan the QR code in the unit to access our guidebook. You will find useful information, such as pool & hot tub access code, local information, how to use the BBQ grill and check-out instructions. If there's anything we have not covered or you have questions after reading the guidebook, please don't hesitate to let us know. We're happy to help!

What is your cancellation policy?

The cancellation policy depends on which platform you book with. If you book directly with us, not only will you save more than with the others, but you will also have the most flexible cancellation out of all the booking platforms: 100% refund if you cancel 7 days prior to arrival. If you booked with 3rd party websites, e.g.: Airbnb, Vrbo, please refer to their cancellation policies.

Where can I find recommendations for activities, restaurants, hikes etc?

Some local recommendations can be found on our blog, as well as in our guidebooks. You’re also welcome to reach out to us if you need any specific recommendations or information to plan your trip once you’ve booked our Hydeaways. We have an extensive list of our favorites ready to share.

Can you provide baby gear for our Hydeaway?

We have pack n play and highchair available, feel free let us know if they are required. Kindly note that it is subject to availability and please prepare your own bedding for the pack n play.

I think I left an item at the property. What should I do?

If you believe you left an item at our property, please reach out to us as soon as possible. You can contact our operation team with a description of the item and where you might possibly have left it. We’ll do our best to locate it and arrange for its return. Please note that items left behind will be held for a limited time before being donated or discarded. Thank you!

Is parking available?

Indoor parking is available at all of our properties. Most of the parking is first-come-first-serve, some of them have designated parking stalls for each unit. Parking instructions will be provided prior to check-in.

Do you provide bear spray?

Unfortunately, we do not provide bear spray as we are unable to make sure if it is full or has been used in a previous guest stay. Wilderness Equipment Rentals is one of the places provide bear spray rental service: https://wildernessrentals.ca/camp-trek/car-camp/bear-spray-kit. Otherwise, Canadian Tires and most of the sports gear shops in town sell them. Valhalla Pure Outfitters on the main street will be a convenient location to get one too.

Am I restricted in how many days I want to use my own property?

Absolutely not! Unlike other managers, your property is yours! While we can advise on the highest generating days and peak seasons you are free to book and use your property as you wish, as many nights a year as you want.

I am already in a rental pool or another management contract. Won't switching over be difficult?

Definitely not. We are here to make our owner’s lives easy from day 1. This includes handling all parts of a separation and switch over. We can advise and run the process for you from day 1.

Do I need a management company?

There is no right answer. Nobody NEEDS one, however many people don’t have the time, skills or expertise to maximize their property’s revenue, design, cleanliness and guest experience. Employing dynamic pricing, hiring trustworthy cleaners, dealing with emergencies and communicating around the clock with your guests is not everyone’s cup of tea. Why not earn more, while doing less is how we think about it.

Do you take care of all the cleaning?

Of course we do! It’s our number 1 priority to ensure a spotless Hydeaway for you and your guests every single time. We focus a lot of our time and energy on ensuring an immaculate property every time.

I want to spruce up my property. Can Hydeaway Stay help with that?

Yes absolutely, we have years of experience advising on the highest ROI design upgrades. In addition we have trusted design partners to help every step of the way. Lastly, if you don’t want to pay upfront for design upgrades Hydeaway can fund these for you, interest free!

Does Hydeaway Stay use Airbnb & VRBO in addition to direct booking?

Yes, we do use both platforms. Additionally, VRBO is also owned by Expedia giving their listing's broad exposure to their group of companies (Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Travelocity, and Trivago)

Can we have personal effects?

Of course you can! We can advise on personal belongings that can be in your property 24/7, as well as help ensure you have everything available for your personal stays. Using in unit lockers, storage lockers or even having us deliver and set up your own personal items prior to your arrival ensure’s your home feels like your home every time!

Is Hydeaway a Superhost on Airbnb or a Premium Host on VRBO?

Planning Your Trip

How far is Canmore from the Calgary International Airport?

It is about 1h15m – 1.5h driving between Canmore and the Calgary International Airport.  

How do I get to Canmore?

While driving is the easiest way to get to Canmore, there are also private companies providing shuttle service to/ from Canmore. Please browse our transportation page. (hyperlink to our transportation info page/ blog)  

Are there grocery stores in Canmore?

Yes, Safeway and Save-on-Food are the two major grocery stores in town. Canmore Farmers Market also opens every Thursday from May to October.  

Parking?

There are street parking/ parking lots available in Canmore and Banff Downtowns area. Parking at attractions is also usually available, though they could get very busy in the summer months, please plan your trip and schedule accordingly. 

Is Banff National Park close to Canmore?

Yes, it is about 20 minutes driving to Banff downtown area.  

Are there world-famous ski hills close by?

Of course! And you’re in the right place for it. Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village Ski Resort are just 0.5-1hr driving away. There are also Norquay and Nakiska Ski Area in the area which are just about 25-45mins driving away.

Are there good restaurants in Canmore?

Is Canmore walk and bike friendly?

Yes, Canmore is a very walk and bike-friendly destination! The town features a network of scenic trails and pathways that make it easy to explore on foot or by bike. Additionally, many local businesses and restaurants are within walking or biking distance, making it convenient to enjoy all that Canmore has to offer. 

What else is there to do in Canmore?
